How
to Make a Perfect Impression
Our kits offer you an inexpensive
way to preserve your child's tiny hand and/or footprint in a special material
mold that will last a lifetime.
We have been selling our Baby's First Impression Kits for over 10 years and
our customers have let us in on many of their secrets for using and displaying
a finished impression.
To get a good impression rub some baby oil on your baby's hand and/or foot
prior to making the impression, this will help keep the material from sticking
and aid in the clean-up process, this will also insure a more detailed and
uniform look.
It
may be easier to obtain the child's footprint then it will be for the handprint.
What we suggest is: taking the impression while the child is asleep, this
way it will be much easier to manipulate their hand or their foot into the
casting material. A fully awake child may give problems such as, they will
not open their hand or they will curl their toes. A sleepy child is much easier
to handle. It will also help if there are two people working on this project,
one to hold the plaster container and the other to guild the child's hand
or foot into the prepared mixture.
Once the mold has been made and the curing time is finished you can either
leave the finished impression in the clear container or you can gently break
away the plastic container leaving you with a perfect circle mold. If you
prefer to use the impression for hanging all you need to do is insert a plastic
drinking straw at the top of the mold after your child's hand or foot has
made its impression. Once the material has cured and the impression is ready
to come out of the container, remove the straw.
You will be left with a perfect hole that a satin ribbon can be fed through
to make a hang loop. To personalize the impression with your child's name
and birth date, do so before the plaster has dried and cured.
Take a toothpick and write the name and date into the plaster while it is
still soft, you can also use tiny beads to spell out the name and date.
Curing
time will depend on several factors, such as humidity and temperature.
Following the instructions here and the instructions that will be sent with
the kit(s) are a MUST for a perfect outcome. Not following these instructions
may result in a less than perfect impression.
Remember to order more than one kit if you want to give a cute gift to other
family members; such as, the Grandparents and Aunts and Uncles.
